What fantastic audiences we had for our last play Death By Fatal Murder. The audiences really enjoyed this very funny farce. See Photo Gallery for photos from this play.
An Alan Bennett Evening
TADS performed 3 one act plays by Alan Bennett at their annual Theatre Supper held at Walshaw Sports Club, Sycamore Road, Tottington, Bury in March. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed them and the ambiance was superb. This Theatre Supper evening is always very popular with pie and peas and dessert served between the plays.
NODA REVIEW by Jackie Kay: District 5 Representative
These one act plays from the pen of Alan Bennet were so different and well done by this society. Included was a supper so this was a great evening`s entertainment. The first play was `A Visit from Miss Prothero` . Mike Donohue and Kerry Tammam played Arthur Dodsworth and Miss Prothero. Miss Prothero visits Arthur to gossip about what`s happened at work from where he retired. He isn`t really interested until the conversation gets around to his old job He desperately tries to find out what has gone on but as Miss Prothero talks about everything else, he gets nowhere and so needs to invite her back. It shows him as a lonely old man wanting company.
The second play of the evening `Say Something Happened` had three actors, all different. Elizabeth and Arthur Rhodes get a visit from a very new social worker. Of course, every question she asks, the two elderly people misunderstand. Is it deliberate or are the questions not that clear? This is a very funny play as June tries to make sense of their answers. The couple Elizabeth and Arthur were well played by Jill Brown and Phil Lord. Charlotte Kiernon was an excellent June Potter, the Social Worker
To bring the evening to a close was `Two in Torquay` I was told that Mike Donohue took over the part at two weeks notice, You were fantastic. In the play with him was Sandra O`Nions. They play two people who meet in a hotel in Torquay. Mike was brilliant as the guest Mr Mortimer trying to befriend Miss Plunkett. As this is a mystery play, I couldn`t give anything away. I really enjoyed this offering, this was a great way to end a most enjoyable evening.
Thank you for the invitation, supper was excellent
